Every year since I was a little kid we used to go to a company called Hal Wing Enterprises. The owner, Hal Wing, God forgive me for actually using his real name, gives out giant candybars for halloween. He dresses up in a top hat, coat and gold teeth, and used to drive around town in an old car waving at trick-or-treaters.
It was always the highlight of my night to make it there, get an extra large candybar of my choice that he had and to have my hand stamped with some creepy halloween picture that would only be visible when shown under a black light and a handshake from the man himself all decked out.
I remember the year I was about twelve or was it thirteen, I had been begging my parents to hurry up - but no they had to take us to the haunted house where my cousin punched the guy dressed like an alien... Anyway, when we finally made it there, I was last in line and Mr. Wing had ran out of candybars at the kid right in front of me. That kid was my little brother who I conned out of giving me half his candybar later, but I was so disappointed.
Still to this day, my cousins and their children make it to his business where they each walk away with a candybar and cool stamp. For them it will always be tradition. Damn, I miss the day...
So......if I come to your house can I expect to get an extra large candy bar of MY choice?? I'm just thinking it would be a good tradition for YOU to carry on.
